Barack Obama Told An Amazing Story About How He Got Kicked Out Of Disneyland

Former President Barack Obama is finally re-entering the public spotlight, and he gave everyone a good reminder of what they’ve been missing during a speech in Anaheim, California on Saturday.

He opened by telling the crowd a story about a time when he and a few of his friends — who were visiting California to attend a Kool & The Gang concert — were kicked out of Disneyland after they were caught smoking on a ride.

“So we came down, me and a bunch of friends. After the concert, because we were teenagers you could still sort of hang out in the park, and we got in the gondolas,” Obama began. “And I’m ashamed to say this, so close your ears, young people. A few of us were… smoking.”

He, of course, mimicked the act while continuing the story. The crowd appeared to assume Obama meant weed, and they began to cheer.

“No, no, these were cigarettes, people,” Obama said. “They escorted us out of Disneyland. I was booted from the Magic Kingdom!”

For what it’s worth, Disney CEO Bob Iger tweeted Obama on Saturday, saying he’s always welcome back at the park — as long as he doesn’t light up a cigarette on a ride again.

Obama was in Anaheim to campaign for several local Democratic candidates. He and the entire party are trying to rally voters before midterm elections in November.

“This is a consequential moment in our history. The fact is if we don’t step up things can get worse,” Obama said. “When there is a vacuum in our democracy … other voices fill the void. But the good news is in two months, we have a chance to restore some sanity in our politics. We have a chance to flip the House of Representatives.”

Obama didn’t ever mention Trump by name, which was a departure from the scathing speech he gave on Friday.
