Selena Gomez has always been known for being a giving star: she’s kind to her fans, gives back to charity and sets a good example for fans both young and old.
The earth-bound angel has once again proven just how lovely she is by joining Jack Black and Grey’s Anatomy’s Kevin McKidd and Sarah Drew to surprise kids attending prom at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Yahoo! reports. As an advocate for healthcare and many organizations including UNICEF and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, it’s not surprising to see that Selena was so eager to get down with the patients and their families and friends.
The “Around the World in One Night”-themed event had the stars dancing with attendees, as well as sticking around for selfies. Gomez, clad in a simple black-and-white polka dot dress, was a major hit at the photo booth! Prom attendees also got to have dress fittings by BCBG and Alice & Olivia, according to TODAY, so we’re pretty sure the whole experience is one they’ll never forget.
Selena wasn’t the only one getting in on the action, either—Jack Black had the crowd laughing by showing off his dance moves, and the Grey’s cast was mingling with promgoers all night.
The hospital holds the prom event each year for teens aged 14 to 19 who are either undergoing treatment or are in remission. According to TODAY, the hospital recognized that going to a traditional high school prom is difficult and often not possible for cancer patients, so this gives them a chance to have a good time and have something to look forward to.
