The NRA Used A Leslie Knope GIF In A Tweet & The ‘Parks & Rec’ Cast Is NOT Having It

On Wednesday night, the National Rifle Association (NRA) used a GIF from former NBC sitcom Parks and Rec to thank spokesperson Dana Loesch, who represented the gun-lobbying organization at the CNN town hall about the Florida school shooting. The tweet featured a GIF of Amy Poehler’s character Leslie Knope saying “thank you.”

But it seems that the NRA should have chosen a different GIF. Parks and Rec creator Michael Schur quickly took to Twitter to respond. “Hi, please take this down,” he tweeted Wednesday. “I would prefer you not use a GIF from a show I worked on to promote your pro-slaughter agenda.”

Star of the show Amy Poehler does not have a twitter, but that hasn’t stopped her from sharing her opinion via Schur. “Also, Amy isn’t on twitter, but she texted me a message: ‘Can you tweet the NRA for me and tell them I said f*ck off?'”

Actor Nick Offerman, who appeared on Parks and Rec for all seven season as Ron Swanson, also ripped into the NRA and Loesch, tweeting that Leslie Knope would not be supportive of the NRA.

Adam Scott was another actor on the show, and he didn’t hold back.

As of Thursday afternoon, the NRA’s tweet remains up.
