Mindy Kaling Has Written The ‘Devil Wears Prada’ Follow-Up You’ve Been Waiting For

Mindy Kaling is writing and starring in a new movie described as “The Devil Wears Prada meets Broadcast News,” according to HelloGiggles! Could we ask for anything better?

Reports say that, though the movie is untitled and has not been picked up by a film studio yet, Emma Thompson of Harry Potter and Love Actually will co-star. If the rumors are true, Thompson will be the Miranda Priestly to Kaling’s Andy Sachs!

Variety was the first to report on the story and found out that Thompson plays the host of a late-night talk show (yay for female representation!) “who’s in danger of losing her long-running show right when she hires her first female writer, played by Kaling.”

Wow. We already know this is not going to disappoint. It sounds like the perfect comedic exposé of women in the entertainment industry. Kaling herself seemed to confirm the story in a tweet this morning, sharing four hearts along with a link to the Variety story.

It appears mum’s the word for now, but if we know Mindy Kaling, we are sure this is going to be an instant hit.
