Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that after dating on and off for roughly 10 years, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth finally tied the knot just a couple days before Christmas. What you probably don’t know is that the couple’s wedding actually resembled Miley’s own parents’ nuptials.
To commemorate her daughter’s wedding and her own anniversary, Tish Cyrus posted a sweet Instagram photo of her and Billy Ray Cyrus from 25 years ago. The picture shows the couple on the eve of their wedding, and is captioned “25 years ago today @billyraycyrus and I stood in our living room in Franklin Tn and said ‘I Do.’ I would definitely say everything has come full circle!”
The similarities between their wedding and Miley’s are pretty obvious: both couples got married in their own Tennessee homes, both ceremonies were intimate with only close friends and family, and both weddings were marked with living room photos.
While Miley hasn’t exactly said that she was inspired by her parents’ wedding, a source told E! News that a “lavish ceremony wasn’t important” to her or Liam. “… all that mattered was that their families could be there,” the source said.
Both Tish and Billy Ray have posted photos from their daughter’s big day. Liam’s brothers, Chris and Luke, and Miley’s sisters, Noah and Brandi, were also in attendance.
