Lady Gaga Announces a Release Date for Her Third Album, ARTPOP

She’s finally back on the edge of glory, and we’re all waiting in eager anticipation for the moment of truth.

It’s only been five months since the our pop idol Lady Gaga bowed out of the spotlight following her hip surgery, but five months can seem like an eternity in Pop Star time. How could one of the most iconic and controversial figures in modern music have gone from center stage to barely a blip on our radars overnight? Some of us began to wonder if a Gaga comeback was even possible.

But after spending more than a year promoting her third album, Lady Gaga announced yesterday that ARTPOP would be released November 11th. Through a post on Facebook, written in her usual theatrical fashion, Gaga promised the release of her first single, still unnamed, on August 19th.

Along with the album and single, Gaga confirmed the release an accompanying app designed by TechHaus that she claims will bring “ARTculture into Pop in a reverse Warholian expedition.” Whatever that means, we want in! The album and app will be available for pre-order on September 1st, so mark your calendars, collegiettes.

According to the Facebook post, “The album ARTPOP musically mirrors Gaga’s creative process as she passes through the mediums of each artists she collaborates with, scoring a blueprint of her journey. The result, a ‘rage’ of electronic passion and fury, defining each artistic process from beginning to end, ARTPOP could mean anything. But for her, this is a celebration of obsession.” Sounds very Gaga-esque indeed.

Will ARTPOP mark Gaga’s transition back into the limelight? Or will this third album force Mother Monster into permanent obscurity? Let us know what you think about Lady Gaga’s comeback in the comments below!
