Kelly Clarkson Was Told She Had Cancer On the Day of the Grammys, But She Actually Didn’t

Do you recall something being off about Kelly Clarkson at the 2006 Grammy Awards? She won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album but was told she could have cancer shortly before the show.

“Here’s the horrible part: I went the whole day crying,” Clarkson recently revealed on Billboard’s Pop Shop Podcast. “They redid my makeup like four times because I was like, ‘Wow, so young.’ I was just completely freaking out. Then when I won, I thought, ‘Oh my God. This is like God giving me one more thing before something horrible happens.'”

The next day, the doctor’s office told Clarkson they’d mixed up the results and she wasn’t at risk of having cancer. She obviously wasn’t happy about the confusion but was grateful she didn’t have cancer.

She says she doesn’t “remember anything but being terrified.” We don’t blame her!
