Kanye West Hospitalized Shortly After Canceling His Tour

Kanye West is reportedly under observation at the UCLA Medical Center "for his own health and safety." This news came shortly after West's concert promoter, Live Nation, announced the cancellation of his 21 remaining U.S. tour dates.

It has been a controversial few days for West. Thursday night, during his concert in San Jose, California, West went on a political rant expressing his support for President-elect Donald Trump. He said that he hadn't voted in the 2016 presidential election, but that if he had, it would have been for Trump.

On Saturday, West arrived late for his concert in Sacramento, California, performed only two songs, and then embarked on another stream-of-consciousness rant. This time, West bashed Beyoncé, Mark Zuckerberg, Hillary Clinton and more before literally dropping the mic and walking off stage.

TMZ reported that West was "acting erratically" when police responded to a medical welfare call on Monday afternoon. According to Us Weekly, West's wife, Kim Kardashian, immediately rushed to the hospital upon finding out he'd been admitted. Kim was in New York City on Monday for the Angel Ball, an event being held in honor of her late father Robert Kardashian. She was scheduled to make her first public appearance since she was the victim of an armed robbery in Paris last month, but flew back to Los Angeles to be with her husband instead. Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian and Kris Jenner were in attendance at the charity event.

West's mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, spoke about his condition on Monday night. "He's exhausted. He's just really tired," Jenner said. "He's had a grueling tour and it's been a grind, so he just needs to rest."

Celebrities and fans tweeted messages in support of West:

Mental health is a serious subject, and it should never be taken lightly. We wish Kanye all the best with his recovery, even if it means that he has to step out of the spotlight.
