Joe Jonas Had His Eyes on Ashley Graham From the Start

Last week, DNCE released a new music video for their song “Toothbrush” off their 2015 EP SWAAY. Between fooling around in the bedroom, cuddling in the backseat, and making out in an empty stairwell, Joe had us old school JoBro fans wishing we were in the video. But in a recent interview with Glamour magazine, Jonas revealed there was only woman he considered for his love interest: model and body activist Ashley Graham.

“To be honest, we really only had one girl in mind,” Jonas said in the interview “I just find Ashley Graham so beautiful.”

In fact, he was so set on having Graham in the video that he didn’t even feel the need to meet her prior to filming. “We met in the trailer, and our first scene was in the bed,” Joe disclosed. “We hit it off, just walked right into it. This video was a dream come true.”

It’s hard to believe they just met on set, considering the great chemistry they have playing out intimate scenes. He even bragged during an interview at the Billboard Music Awards about how amazing of a day it was. “We just got to make out and roll around on each other all day,” he said, later adding, “The makeout scenes were really hot and long and I think they said cut a few times and we both were in our zone and we were like, ‘whatever.'”

For anyone wondering why a song titled “Toothbrush” has anything to do with intimacy, Jonas and Graham explained what it means to leave a toothbrush at a someone’s place.

According to Jonas, “it’s a pretty big step. Leaving a sweatshirt is understandable, but a toothbrush is a statement. And that’s kind of why we wrote the song. If you really think about it, no one wants morning breath. And you’re obviously staying over quite a bit—I mean, no one has more than one toothbrush, right? I would say it’s gotta be a few visits before that conversation happens.”

“Leaving a toothbrush is a commitment,” Graham adds. “I think if a woman leaves a toothbrush at a guy’s house, she’s letting him know that he’s going to have to commit soon or there’s a problem.”
