Joe Biden Appears on ‘Parks and Recreation’

Fresh off a victory, Joe Biden makes an unexpected move from politics to comedy. Don’t worry, he’s not moving out of the White House. He’s just inviting Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) in!

Following Obama and Biden’s win over Romney and Ryan, NBC announced Biden, often mentioned as Knope’s celebrity crush, will appear in the new Parks and Recreation episode, “Leslie vs. April,” airing on Nov. 15. The vice president filmed the cameo in July, said The Huffington Post, but the cast and crew of Parks & Rec were told to keep quiet until after the elections.

The appearance was shot in the Vice President’s Ceremonial Office or the Office of the Secretary of the Navy after Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott) arranged a surprise for Knope.

“Meeting Vice President was a thrill for me and for Leslie,” said Poehler in a statement, reported The Huffington Post. She praised him for his improvisational skills and also for managing to keep his cool as she “harassed him and invaded his personal space.”

“We looked at a number of actors to OK the role of ‘Vice President Joe Biden,’ and ultimately, Joe Biden himself gave the best audition,” said Mike Schur, executive producer of Parks & Rec, in a public statement.

Fox News reported, “Biden got along well with the cast and even adlibbed some of his lines for the show, Schur said.”

Both families in the White House have said they are huge fans of the show. If the Bidens and Obamas get together on Thursday to watch the new episode, that is one Parks & Rec viewing party many people probably wish they could join.
