Iggy Azalea Reveals She Knew About Demi Lovato’s Relapse & Her Support Is Everything

Iggy Azalea and Demi Lovato have been friends since 2014, and they’ve supported each other through it all—relationship problems, body shaming from haters, music releases and more. Now, it looks like Iggy was there for Demi when she was dealing with one of the hardest moments of her life: her relapse, announced to the world through Demi’s heartbreaking new song “Sober.”

Iggy did an interview with Entertainment Tonight on July 10, and one of the topics that came up was her friendship with the 25-year-old singer. When asked about her relapse, the rapper revealed, “I had known about it, as a close friend. So I had really wanted for her to be the one to tell people that.”

I love these two. Thankyou for always having my back.

Despite this, Iggy hadn’t known that Demi would release “Sober,” saying, “I didn’t know that she was recording that song, she didn’t tell me that.” But even if Demi kept the details of “Sober” under wraps, there’s no bad blood between the two. “I was just really proud of her that she was honest, because it’s really hard to be honest with yourself,” Iggy continued. “So, to be honest with the whole world, [to share] something that you struggled with very publicly, it’s something that is very admirable. I was very proud of her to see her write that song and put it out.”

The friendship between Iggy and Demi definitely seems to be an unbreakable bond, perhaps it’s because both women understand the pressures of dealing with personal issues while leading a life in the spotlight. “I worried a lot, as her friend, that something was going to leak or somebody would somehow take that and use it negatively against her, or to make her seem like she’s got a secret,” Iggy said. She clearly knows how social media can spread rumors extremely quickly. Iggy even infamously quit social media for a while back in 2015 because of haters.

Listening to “Sober” and hearing about Demi’s relapse was heartbreaking, but her friends will always have her back. Iggy, in fact, will soon be supporting Demi not only as a friend, but as a literal support act when she opens for her at July 22’s California Mid-State Fair, Entertainment Tonight reports.
