Hilary Duff’s husband Mike Comrie announced that is retiring from the NHL.
“To have made the lasting friendships I enjoy today with so many of my former teammates is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life,” Comrie said. “It’s the reward that has made all the hard work, the trades, the moves and the surgeries worthwhile.” Comrie, 31, most recently played for the Oilers during his ten year career, returning to his hometown of Edmonton.
His multiple hip surgeries are what led to decision, due to the rough physical contact of the sport. Duff, 24 tweeted in support of her hubby saying, “As many of u know mike has announced his retirement. It’s a bittersweet day! He had a wonderful career! But 3 hip surgeries in 5 years is alot!”
Comrie won’t be relaxing for long however, as he and Duff are expecting their first baby next month!
