After months of speculation, two of Hollywood’s most anticipated roles have finally been filled.
Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James announced the leads in the movie adaptation of her famous erotica novel this morning via Twitter. Though many speculated that Emma Watson, Shailene Woodley, and Analeigh Tipton, among others, may be cast, the real Anastasia was finally revealed. Dakota Johnson, daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, will play shy college student Anastasia Steele.
Soon after tweeting the news about Anastasia, James followed up with her male lead. Clearing up the rumors that Matt Bomer, Ian Somerhalder, Henry Cavill, Alex Pettyfer, Robert Pattinson, or Alexander Skarsgard would play the role, she announced that Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam will play Anastasia’s counterpart as Christian Grey.
The film is being directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and produced by Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti, as well as E.L. James herself. All three books are going to be made into movies by Universal Pictures, so we can look forward to this duo steaming up movie screens for a while!
