Ed Sheeran Confirms He's Married in New Song 'Remember the Name'

Whenever Ed Sheeran isn’t performing or releasing new bops, he usually keeps a low-key profile, which is why it came as no surprise when the 28-year-old singer casually confirmed that he and longtime love Cherry Seaborn, 27, have tied the knot.

The marriage news came during an interview with iHeartRadio host Charlamagne Tha God about Sheeran’s latest album, “No.6 Collaborations Project.”

While discussing “Remember the Name,” his new song with Eminem and 50 Cent, the pop singer pointed out his cheeky reference to his spouse on the track: “My wife wears red, but looks better without the lipstick.”

The longtime couple, who dating in September 2015 and got engaged in January 2018, were speculated to have already been married, PopSugar reports. Last year, there were reports that Sheeran and Seaborn tied the knot in a secret ceremony after he flashed a wedding ring during an Access Online interview. But now, Sheeran has confirmed the nuptial news.

“It was actually before me and Cherry got married and I knew that we’d be married by the point that the song came out,” Sheeran shared during the interview. “[I thought] someone’s going to hear that and be like, ‘Oh they’re married,’ and I didn't know how that would be. But, obviously, it’s already come out.”

Sheeran also revealed in the interview that it was his wife who convinced him to get Justin Bieber on “I Don’t Care,” his lead track on the album, Buzzfeed reports.

“Bieber just got married. I’d just got married,” he recalled. “That song is about being at an industry event with the woman you love, or the person you love, and kind of being like, ‘F--k this, let’s just have fun ourselves.’”

Although Sheeran’s marriage announcement didn't go exactly as planned, now that their matrimony is confirmed, we can all send a big congrats to Ed and Cherry!
