Disney Has Mermaid School Now, So BRB While I Become Ariel

It’s time to pull out your tails, grab your dinglehoppers, and get ready to achieve your dreams of becoming a mermaid. Beginning in mid-March, you can channel your inner Ariel and attend “Mermaid School” at the Walt Disney World resort hotels in Orlando, Florida.

For an hour-long class, fin-structors will literally teach you how to swim just like a mermaid through a series of fun activities. Once the class is complete, guests can receive a medallion to commemorate their time “under the sea.” The Mermaid Academy, which is an Orlando company that provides class instructors and loans mermaid tails (p.s. you can buy a fin to keep!), hosts the new experience. Each class costs $55 per person and includes tax.

The best part you don’t have to be a little kid to do this! According to Disney Parks Blog, any guest ages four and up can participate in the class. This means that people of all ages—including us nostalgic college students—can join in the fun.

All classes will start at 8:00 a.m. and are hosted at seven different resort locations:

  • Art of Animation Resort
  • Caribbean Beach Resort
  • Beach Club Resort
  • Yacht Club Resort
  • All-Star Music Resort
  • Polynesian Village Resort
  • Riviera Resort

This isn’t the only activity that Walt Disney World’s themed resort hotels are rolling out this spring. The resort hotels will also have an opportunity for kids between the ages of 4 and 12 to join Captain Hook’s pirate crew, and it’ll include art classes for ages 8 and older.

According to Doctor Disney, you can reserve classes at 407-WDW-PLAY and bookings started on March 1. So to all my professors, I won’t be in class on Monday because I will be too busy embracing my inner mermaid.
