Disney Channel stars are always in the news even long after their shows end, but it’s rarely for a bizarre reason like this: Wizards of Waverly Place star David Henrie was arrested at LAX on Monday morning when TSA found a loaded gun among his things as he was going through security.
The Daily Beast reports that Henrie was detained and brought to a police station immediately after the gun, an M&P Shield 9mm pistol, was found. According to Fox News, the How I Met Your Mother actor tweeted an apology later that day.
“I unintentionally brought my legally owned gun which is registered in my name to the airport,” Henrie wrote. “I am so sorry for any trouble it caused, but I am appreciative of TSA’s efforts in implementing the safety laws that are in place to protect our beautiful country.”

The entire situation is a little baffling—how do you forget you have a loaded gun with you when you’re on the way to the airport?—but it does look like Henrie cooperated with the TSA. He added that he was “humiliated and embarrassed” by what happened, which is understandable. I’m sure Henrie will go through his luggage twice the next time he has to board a plane.
