The CW Is Developing a ‘Riverdale’ Spinoff About Sabrina the Teenage Witch

We may have just found your new CW  addiction, and trust me—it’s going to be good. The CW and WB have a Riverdale spinoff in the works for the 2018-2019 season. The best part? It’s about Sabrina the Teenage Witch! I know—I’m freaking out, too.

Riverdale executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will serve as the executive producer and writer of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The show will focus on Sabrina’s life as part-witch, part-human, only it won’t be anything like the Sabrina the Teenage Witch with Melissa Joan Hart that we know and love. It “reimagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft,” TVLine reports.

In case you didn’t know, Sabrina is part of the Archie Comics universe, just like Riverdale. Aguirre-Sacasa created the 2014 comics the show will be based on. This spinoff only makes sense, considering Sabrina lives in Greendale, which is near Riverdale and was even mentioned during Jason Blossom’s murder investigation. There’s been much talk about Sabrina appearing on Riverdale, but clearly The Powers That Be thought her character could play a more central role.

The show is only in development at this point, but I’m hoping it becomes a reality. In the meantime, has anyone reached Dove Cameron?

Talking to band members after their shows is a hobby, along with thrifting & indulging in all aspects of pop culture. After college, she plans to spend more time at concerts, getting paid to write about music and bands.
