It’s contract season in the entertainment industry, and that means we get to find out which of our favorite television series will be renewed for upcoming seasons. Thankfully, we didn’t waste any of the time getting emotionally invested in Rebecca Bunch’s musical escapades on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the CW has renewed 10 TV show, including Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, for its fourth and last season.
As THR reports, the CW announced their renewal lineup which includes fan favorites like Black Lightning, Jane the Virgin, Supergirl, Supernatural and, of course, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. While we finish our empowering handwritten draft about why the CW should renew Crazy Ex-Girlfriend for another five seasons, THR adds that though the show’s co-creator, Rachel Bloom who also portrays Rebecca Bunch, says the series will end after this new season, the CW hasn’t confirmed this information.
Bloom tweeted the news on Monday, saying, “Just turned on my Wifi on our flight to Chicago found out that #CrazyExGirlfriend has been renewed for a final season.” While the phrase “final season” might seem like a definitive end to the series, the CW hasn’t confirmed these claims.

As we draw closer to May, THR anticipates that the CW will either breakoff our relationship with our favorite ex or continue our relationship with our fave protagonist.
Nevertheless, Bustle notes that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has already had an extraordinary run on the CW—seeing as the series almost never aired. During Bloom’s Golden Globes Speech in 2016, she noted, “We almost didn’t have a show. We made a pilot for another network and they rejected it, and we sent the pilot to every other network in Hollywood and we got six rejections in one day and we felt like crap, but we knew it was good, and Mark Pedowitz from The CW picked it out and he is the one who saved us, and he is the reason that there is a musical comedy on network television right now.”
Known for reclaiming problematic sexist diatribe, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend might not be the perfect show or the most healthy representation of feminism, but we’re glad that we can watch this series for at least another season.
