Corinne from ‘The Bachelor’ Sort Of Clarifies Why She Has a Nanny

It’s no question that Corinne has definitely stirred the pot during this season of The Bachelor. Amid topless photo shoots, whipped cream and a steamy makeout sesh in a bounce house, we caught Corinne telling the other contestants about Raquel, her nanny. While we were left with so many questions, Ellen DeGeneres came through to give Corinne a chance to finally explain herself (and maybe sound a little less crazy?).

After a few joking moments on her show, Ellen finally asks the question that’s on all of our minds: “Why do you have a nanny?”

“She works with my family. She’s been with us for 18 years,” Corinne explains. “She moved with us to Florida from New Jersey. She’s kind of, like, my everything.”

Corinne then goes into more detail, explaining how much Raquel means to her and her family: “She raised my sister. She helped my mom through cancer. She’s just great. She’s part of our family. She’s not like my nanny, like my babysitter.”

Although Corinne’s explanation gives us a bit more information than we got from her on the show, there are still some things that aren’t adding up—like why on earth a 24-year-old woman is still having her bed made and cucumbers sliced for her? Still a bit confused by what’s going on, Ellen asks why Corinne referred to Raquel as her nanny on the show, if she’s not actually a nanny.

“Nanny is kind of like a word that I use for her because I have a lot of respect for her, and she’s kind of like a mother figure to me so I don’t really like to say cleaning lady or housekeeper,” Corinne explains. “Nanny to me is a more ‘respectful’ word for her, because I really do love her and she’s a very big part of my life.”

Personally, I feel like there are still better words out there to describe a woman like that besides “nanny,” but at least Corinne got to explain herself and the nanny situation better than she did on the show. She did just wake up from a nap on the couch after all…

Amanda graduated from Carthage College with a Bachelor's degree in both Communications and Public Relations. She also proudly served as the Editor in Chief of her college's Her Campus chapter, and as a Her Campus Editorial Intern. She is from Chicago, Illinois, which she can confirm is indeed a windy city. Today she can still be found furiously tapping away at her laptop keys and producing content for the internet. In her spare time she enjoys reading books (before watching their Netflix or movie adaptions), running for fun (yes, it can be fun) and spending time with her friends and family.
