Ariel Winter’s First Day at UCLA Was Ruined by Paparazzi

Modern Family‘s Ariel Winter started school at UCLA on Thursday, and of course, the paparazzi had to go and mess it up right out of the gate. The young star complained on Twitter that the paps, as per usual, invaded her personal space and ruined her first day of school.

“Well the paparazzi just successfully ruined my first day of school. Thanks,” she wrote.

It’s an AMAZING DAY! I’m going to UCLA- thank you to everyone who has been there for me on this journey! #bruinsbaby

Winter has aired her grievances about tabloids and paparazzi in the past, making it perfectly clear she does not want to be followed around while she’s just trying to live her day-to-day life. Just a few weeks ago on Instagram, she wrote, “I am not trying to be pap’d everywhere I go, I am literally just LIVING and unfortunately, I can’t do that without paparazzi following me around everyday.” Sounds like they still haven’t gotten the memo.

Ariel told UCLA’s school newspaper, the Daily Bruin, she’s going to school to plan ahead for the unpredictable future. “The entertainment industry for actors is never guaranteed,” Winter said. “I could be on a show today, and then—once the show ends—never work again. For me, it was very important to have knowledge in a different field.”

I applaud the starlet for empowering herself with education. Welcome to the collegiette community, Ariel! I hope the rest of your experience at UCLA is better than your first day.
