I read somewhere that now was a great time to revisit Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, removed from all the hype from a year ago, as well as right before it is given new meaning after the release of Avengers: Endgame. I haven’t seen Infinity War since last May, so I spent my Monday night on Netflix watching the movie from start to finish, writing down all my major thoughts over the 140 minute runtime:
- I cannot believe the way Thanos embarrassed the Hulk like that… he is too powerful
- Like, someone being THAT much stronger than Hulk??? Incredible.
- That Squidward dude is bad AF not gonna lie
- You can feel how different the movie is right from the start… they did such a good job
- Loki’s death scene was so painful and uncomfortable to watch the first time around…. still is
- This is so CRAZY
- Why does Tony have a flip phone
- The scene with Dr. Strange, Tony, Hulk vs. Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian was EVERYTHINGGGG
- This long tracking shot of all the chaos is probably my favorite fight scene set-up ever
- PETERRRRRRR
- Dr. Strange deserves more than he gets… he was coming with that HEAT!
- Oh Bruce this was so disappointing
- The Guardians’ intro is the best every time I love how notable it is
- “I am Groot” sjdjdksksk the reactions to teenage Groot is hilarious
- Chris Pratt kills every scene he’s in lol
- Kevin Bacon MAY be on the team
- I jumped so hard when Vision got stabbed even though I was literally WAITING for it to happen DAMMIT
- Wanda is so powerful ugh
- Cap’s entrance was the best thing that ever happened to me… audiences worldwide literally CHEERED
- COME THROUGH FALCON AND BLACK WIDOW!!! WHAT A TEAM
- Gamora’s favor she asked of Starlord.. *cries*
- Thanos and Gamora’s scenes were always some of my faves
- Thanos’ lines were so beautifully written .. it’s almost like he speaks in poems
- When he “resurrected” like THAT with the reality stone was when I knew this was too insane
- LET HER GO GRIMACE
- A TITAN KILLING LONG TERM BOOTY CALL
- I can’t believe this
- Cap is so ROGUE NOW WOW
- “This is awkward” it literally is Falcon
- Ok I get the romantic thing between Vision and Wanda… but this man is a COMPUTER Y’ALL BETTER DESTROY THAT STONE
- The Avengers were so naïve they should’ve killed vision. So much of this could’ve been avoided
- WAKANDAAAAAAAAAAA
- BUCKY/WHITE WOLF HELP
- Peter’s reaction to being knighted as an Avenger was so sweet and pure aw
- Nebula will defeat Thanos
- “I never taught you to lie… that’s why you’re so bad at it” oof
- I remember every time an Avenger or Guardian messed up I was like “It’s a wrap, watch Thanos end up getting all the stones” ?
- It actually seemed pretty easy for Thanos to acquire all the stones? He did it in such a short amount of time
- A lot of people really dropped the ball in this movie
- NEBULA KILLED THAT GUARD LIKE IT WAS NOTHING I’M SCREAMING
- Planet Titan… where the magic happens
- “WHY IS GAMORA” KILLS ME EVERY TIME
- I LOVE THE CONFUSION THIS SCENE WAS SO GREAT
- “WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO SAY, JESUS?”
- “Kick names, take ass”
- Tom Holland had the greatest line delivery of 2018 with “it never was” omg
- What is the ONE way they can defeat Thanos… this is driving me crazy now!
- What size shoe do you think Thanos is?
- Ah the return of the Red Skull was a pleasant surprise
- The soul stone sacrifice.. I knew it was coming but I didn’t want to believe it!
- Gamora’s death scene was tough to watch but I remember being in the theater and marveling at how beautiful it was… what a send-off
- When Bucky spoke I literally felt something inside of me
- Omg the battle in Wakanda… literally the wildest in movie history
- GET ?? THIS ?? MAN ?? A ?? SHIELD ??
- The look Okoye gives Bruce will never get old
- “Thanos will have nothing but dust and blood” this was such a powerful line at the time but in retrospect,,,
- “What the hell” same Bucky
- Omg those creatures.. literally insane
- “Then it will be the noblest ending in history” YES OKOYEEEEE
- That run into battle was historic
- CAP AND T’CHALLA RUNNING AT THE SAME SPEED STILL HAS ME LIKE !!!!!!!
- GROOT… so noble of you!
- THOR…. THE MOST POWERFUL AVENGER
- BRING ME THANOS… PERIODT
- “You’re much more than a Thanos” what does that mean Mr. Strange
- How does Thanos have four whole infinity stones and couldn’t tell that the others were hiding on the planet
- This really could’ve been THE plan… they almost had him… sigh
- I do not believe what I am seeing
- I’m so glad Starlord got dusted
- “I am Steve Rogers” .. still so pure
- “Why was she up there all this time” jadjdksks
- The female team-up fight was truly what we deserved
- Bruce was embarrassing this WHOLE MOVIE
- This screenwriting is so impeccable, I love Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely!
- Thanos vs. Strange .. ALSO the fight we deserved
- OMG remember when Thanos stabbed Tony and said “I hope they remember you” in the trailer & everyone thought it was the end for him, sigh
- I’m pretty sure I started laughing in the theater when Strange gave Thanos the time stone because I knew it was over for everybody
- “We’re in the endgame now”.. BYE
- Literally insane watching Thanos take on (and down) each Avenger one by one
- Cap never gave up… my hero I want to hug him
- Let me stress that Wanda is the (second) most powerful Avenger.. wow!
- Oh my God he really did it
- THOR’S HAMMER VS. ALL THE POWER IN THE UNIVERSE… REMARKABLE
- When Thanos said “you should’ve went for the head” I literally wanted to evaporate
- Crazy how I still have that sinking dread while watching the lead up to the snap a year later
- “Oh God..” that final line spoken by Cap punched me in the heart this time around for some reason
- That last scene with Thanos couldn’t have been a better ending. Ugh wow
- The post credits scene gives me COMPLETE anxiety because it feels like an actual end of the world movie.. we had to see the effects on society though. I literally couldn’t imagine
- PAGING CAPTAIN MARVEL!!!! That gave me so much hope
I had always planned to watch Infinity War again before Endgame came out, but I’m glad I did it closer to the release date so I could remember the details. While I’m a huge Marvel fan, I like to look at all films through a critical lens. A year later, I can definitely say that Infinity War holds up. It is genuinely a great film, and pulled off the incredible feat of including the massive roster of superheroes that they did. As much as I want the dusting scene at the end deleted from history… I always thought that in particular was so well done. The way it was executed… the rustling of the trees, no score over it, the quiet stillness, it really made viewers sink into what was happening. I remember being ruined for at least two days straight after that I literally could NOT speak – so I guess they did a good job. For my other fellow Marvel fans, nothing will prepare us for the end. But let’s remember the good times! We are in the endgame now.
