Poor Derek went home on last night’s episode of The Bachelorette. While we are devastated that we won’t be seeing his beautiful blue eyes anymore, we have to admit that this was probably the most unintentionally hilarious rejection in Bachelorette history.
1. When JoJo was awkwardly being passed between Chase and Derek during their tango, and Derek made eye contact that was waaaaaay too intense
2. The irony of Derek’s persistent confidence that he would not be going home
3. The look on his face when JoJo then rejected him
4. When Soledad Pastorutti suddenly stood on a balcony and sang “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” from the musical “Evita”
5. When you knew Derek was going to start crying as soon as Patorutti sang “the truth is I never left you”
6. When you totally called it and Derek started crying like a sad, dainty child
7. And you almost felt sad when Derek earnestly spoke in third person to himself
8. “Don’t cry,” he whispered softly
9. Which coincided with Pastorutti singing the line “Don’t cry for me Argentina”
10. And the entire time JoJo and Chase were just making out as Derek bawled in the loser van
11. When you flocked to Twitter to see people’s response to Derek leaving, only to find out that nobody really cared
12. They only cared about how much he looks like John Krasinski
