Cut Calories for the Cure!

Hello lovelies!  I hope everyone enjoyed their weekends; it was a gorgeous one on Long Island!  I think I’ve unofficially dubbed Sundays as my workout day to do something different from taking the traditional run or hitting the gym.

Last Sunday, I spent the day in New York City’s Central Park, but today I stayed local and ventured only 20 minutes from Hofstra’s campus to Jones Beach for The American Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Walk!  My sorority, Alpha Phi, even joined me to raise a little money for the cure.

This was like multi-tasking times THREE!  I walked a total of 5 miles, got to spend some much-needed time with my sorority sisters, and walked for a great cause that is important to Alpha Phi in particular.

So I slipped on my black and pink (perfect color scheme!) New Balance sneaks, grabbed my black New Balance leggings that I currently LIVE in, and finally got to wear my favorite New Balance warm jacket, that comes complete with thumb holes!

Here are a few pictures of the craziness in the check-in area.  And, yes these people were FIST PUMPING Jersey Shore style to techno at 10 am!

My “little sister” and I making the first leg of the 5 mile trek!

There were so many people out and about walking for Breast Cancer, yay!

At the 2.5 mile mark/turn-around, there were all these names of survivors and those who lost the battle to breast cancer.  Talk about motivation!  It definitely made me want to finish the last half.

At that halfway spot, my sorority took a little break and posed for a super cute pic with a breast cancer survivor and a festive pink gorilla!

Who wouldn’t want to be active on a gorgeous day like this?  And hello, its at the beach a.k.a my favorite place ever.  New York has really been spoiling me with all this amazing weather.  It makes it that much easier to work out outdoors when the weather is so beautiful.  Hey, I’m not complaining!
