The world of healthy foods has always been a bit of a foreign one to me. My mother isn’t a big fan of vegetables, so I never really ate them much as a child. This combined with years of grabbing fast food on my way home from dance (which, of course had no effect on my waist because I was dancing 20 hours per week), led me to a very small vision of what types of food were delicious.
Luckily this experience has opened my eyes to a whole world of treats that don’t just taste good, but ARE good for you. One of my new favorites is avocados, though my first non-guacamole experience with the fruit wasn’t exactly easy.
You see, I wasn’t really sure how to cut into the hard green outing. Luckily my roommate enjoys healthy food and coached me through the process. Even so, it took forever to cut through the avocado and scoop out the weird seed inside. And then slicing it? Forget it. Instead of even, round slices my knife skills only produced little chunks. But you know what? It still tasted both delicious and healthy. And all the work I put into cutting it? I’d say it was at least five minutes of cardio.
