Fun Fact: I Can Go a Week Without Washing My Hair Thanks to This Dry Shampoo

The Her Campus National Editors write about products we love and think you’ll love too. Her Campus has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase. All products are in stock and all prices are accurate as of publication.

If I had to pick between never using dry shampoo or my phone again, honestly, I’d pick the latter. I’m sorry, but life is too damn short to wash, style, and repeat every. Single. Day. I’d like to sleep in an extra hour, thank you. So, I’m going to tell you my (literal) dirty secret on how I avoid washing my hair like I avoid a former high school classmate in line at Starbucks: Living Proof’s dry shampoo.

I’m not proud of this — okay, no, I actually kind of am — but I’ve gone on four day trips without washing my hair. I’ve worn hats to the gym and then made it to brunch with a fully styled set of waves without washing my hair. I’ve done it all, really, without washing my hair. When I first came to the realization that I am the laziest girl in the world, I set out on a mission to find my dream partner dry shampoo. I’ve pretty much tested every product I could get my hands on, but could never achieve such a clean look and feel (or go days without washing) until I discovered PhD, Perfect hair Day.

For reference, this is my bathroom cabinet at all times:

One for day-to-day use, one for backup. Some may call it an addiction, I call it being prepared. To use the product, I shake it, spray at the roots, and then wait 30 seconds. This apparently activates the powder to start ~absorbing~ the dirt in my hair (cute). Then I shake it out with my fingers to remove the powder (and probably dirt). After that, I’m set to style. I give to you, my day four hair:

Kind of gross but I feel like I can be real with you, right? Even after I exercise, I’ll avoid washing my hair and instead spray the dry shampoo and then blow dry it (that’s what I did in the photo above). Try to look past how it might be gross and instead thank me for this incredible life hack, because this stuff is the real deal. It actually makes my hair feel clean, and doesn’t leave white residue that might as well be a sign that reads “yup, haven’t washed my hair in days.”

You can snag a bottle of this at Sephora or Ulta for around $25, but there’s also a two-pack on Amazon Prime for $38, which is my go-to.

Living Proof Dry Shampoo, Ulta.com, $25; shop now.

Oh, and, if you were wondering, there’s nothing better than your boyfriend telling you that your hair smells good, and you telling him you haven’t washed it in, like, a week. It is a very fun game! (@boys: not washing our hair does not mean we’re not showering, keep up). Anyway, if you hate washing your hair as much as I do, this dry shampoo is the key to living your happiest, laziest life.
