I Replaced Every Single Piece of My Skincare Routine With This One Oil

Unless you really don't care about skincare (which, HOW?), you've probably noticed that simple, clean face oils are popping up all over the place. As a skincare obsessive, I needed to get to the bottom of this trend. What makes them clean beauty? What makes them so ~green beauty~ worthy? And what makes them so damn Instagrammable?

If you've paid attention to Face Mask and Chill, my weekly Instagram Story segment on the Her Campus Instagram, you know my skincare routine is a bit... excessive. There's nothing simple (or really even clean) about my skincare routine at all. From serums to acne stickers to sheet masks to expensive moisturizers and lasers, I really am that extra. And I wouldn't change my routine for the world. In a lot of ways, it's a major form of self care in my life, and it helps me spend some time with myself after a long day at work or a rough mental health day. It's not like I don't enjoy spending an hour a day shoving different products into my pores.

But there's something ~dreamy~ to me about the idea of one product that can do it all. Especially when I'm traveling, it can be a pain in my ass to try to manage to get all of my skincare products into one convenient little TSA-approved bag, so the concept of a face oil made of simple, green ingredients kinda makes my heart since.

That's where Everyday Oil came in.

I found Everyday Oil on Instagram, as I find most of my new beauty products these days. Instagram is such a haven for exciting new beauty trends, and when I saw it I was like, yep, this is a must-try. The packaging itself honestly makes me drool: it arrives in a glimmering, thick glass bottle, with a super minimalist design. It was made for shelfies, as I believe all beauty product should be in 2018, aka The Age Of Instagram.

But what's inside is so damn good too.

Made up of coconut oil, argan oil, lavender, clary sage, and more yummy, yummy ingredients, this is simplicity at its best. It smells AMAZING, and it goes on so smoothly. I used it everywhere on my body, from my face to my hair to my ass, and my skin just drank it right up. It left me with a nice, dewy glow, so this is more a fit for those of us who want to look just a liiiiittle damp at all times, rather than the matte-fans among us.

What makes face oils so special is that they really can do it all.

You can use them as an oil cleanser, and it'll honestly blow your mind that they can take off every single bit of makeup you've got on. Even for me as someone who doesn't wear much makeup, face oils really provide just an extra level of clean. They make my face feel as soft and fresh as an exfoliating, intense cleanser without all of the harsh scrubbing.

Am I giving up my length routine as a whole? Nope. But I do reach for the Everyday Oil on days where I want to keep things a bit lighter, on my lazy days, and on days where I just do not have time for a 7-step skincare routine. I've also got the travel size for work trips, and it's so much more convenient than it used to be to gather up all of my bottles and serums and creams.

A word of caution: though we freaking love coconut oil, it's not going to vibe with everyone's skin type. My skin digs it, but other people have found that it causes breakouts, so def do some patch testing before going all in!
