How to Do Valentine’s Day Makeup, From Minimalist to Very Extra

My absolute favorite part of every Valentine’s Day is doing my makeup. I’ve always loved experimenting with new looks, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion for it. To make your life a little easier, I’ve put together my three favorite looks for this year’s V-Day.

Whether you’re going out with your girls, you have a reservation at a bougie restaurant with your SO, or just curling up on the couch, one of these is definitely your style.

Look One: Natural

Products: Wowder in light/medium from Glossier, Cloud Paint in Beam from Glossier, Boy Brow in Brown from Glossier, Halo Lovely Highlighter Palette from The Crème Shop (lightest shade), Eye got the Power Eyeshadow Base Primer in Natural from W7 Beauty, So Shady Eyeshadow Palette in All Day Everyday from The Crème Shop, Lash Paradise Primer + Mascara from L’Oréal Paris

For this ultra-natural look, I started with a finishing powder to create a light base. I followed that up with a touch of blush and some boy brow to set my brows in place. Highlighter is essential to give my skin a soft glow, and the Halo Lovely Highlighter Palette from The Crème Shop is my favorite when I want to look dewy. I usually put the lightest shade from that palette on my cheekbones, tip of my nose, forehead, and chin.

For my eyes, I put on some W7 Beauty Base Primer and added a few of the neutral colors from the So Shady Eyeshadow Palette in “All Day Everyday” on my lids and in my crease. I finished off my natural makeup look with some Lash Paradise Primer and mascara.

Look Two: Classic

Products: Blemish Rescue Skin-Clearing Spot Concealer in Light 2W from bareMinerals, Blemish Rescue Skin-Clearing Loose Powder Foundation in Fairly Medium 1.5C from bareMinerals, Boy Brow in Brown from Glossier, Angel Face Powder Highlighter Duo in It’s Albright from The Crème Shop, Eye got the Power Eyeshadow Base Primer in Natural from W7 Beauty, So Shady Eyeshadow Palette in All Day Everyday from The Crème Shop, Crèamy Gel Eyeliner in Black from The Crème Shop, Lash Paradise Primer + Mascara from L’Oréal Paris, Lip Lock Lip Pencil in Desert Retreat from The Crème Shop, My Wand & Only Matte Liquid Lipstick in Desert Retreat from The Crème Shop

Classic Valentine’s Day makeup is all about balancing out the lips and the eyes. I started off with Blemish Rescue Concealer and Powder Foundation from bareMinerals for my base, because this stuff works wonders for my acne-prone skin – it also has amazing coverage.

Next, I gave my brows a little shape and color with Glossier’s boy brow. I used The Crème Shop’s Angel Face Powder Highlighter Duo in “It’s Albright” to highlight my cheekbones and subtly contour.

After priming my lids, I used a few of the colors from The Crème Shop’s So Shady Eyeshadow Palette in “All Day Everyday” to create a soft, glittery look for my eyes. I followed this up with Crèamy Gel Eyeliner from The Crème Shop, applying it with an angled brush just above my lash line. After priming and applying mascara, I used matte liquid lipstick and a matching liner in “Desert Retreat” from The Crème Shop to finish off this classic look.

Look Three: Extra

Products: Healthy Skin Liquid Foundation in Buff from Neutrogena, Wowder in light/medium from Glossier, Boy Brow in Brown from Glossier, Rose Powder Blush in Tea Rose from Milani, Halo Lovely Highlighter Palette from The Crème Shop (right shade), Eye got the Power Eyeshadow Base Primer in Natural from W7 Beauty, So Shady Eyeshadow Palette in All Day Everyday from The Crème Shop, Lash Paradise Primer + Mascara from L’Oréal Paris, Lip Lock Lip Pencil in Extra Sprinkles from The Crème Shop, My Wand & Only Matte Liquid Lipstick in Extra Sprinkles from The Crème Shop

Lipstick is everything for this look, if you couldn’t already tell.

I started with applying liquid foundation and a finishing powder, using boy brow again to shape and fill my brows. To give my cheeks a flushed look, I used Milani’s Rose Powder Blush in “Tea Rose”. Then, for my highlighter, I went back to The Crème Shop’s Halo Lovely Highlighter Palette, using the pink shade to accentuate my rosy cheeks even more.

After priming my lids, I used from The Crème Shop’s So Shady Eyeshadow Palette in “All Day Everyday” to create a bright, glittery look for my eyes. I used one of the darker shades from this palette as a liner and blended it out to make it a bit softer. After priming and applying mascara, I used matte liquid lipstick and a matching liner in “Extra Sprinkles” from The Crème Shop to finish off this bold look.
