It’s summer time and the livin’ is easy! Okay so maybe not easy… with your part-time jobs, classes, and internships; but there are still those short getaways that you can cherish! While you’re enjoying your weekends off (and no finals to speak of!), make sure your hair doesn’t spoil your time. These updos can help get your hair out of your face and off your neck all summer long!
1. Fishtail ponytail

2. Milkmaid braid
Milkmaid braids are super cute, but they can be a bit difficult to execute and often require a more formal occasion. This modified milkmaid braid gives a similar look with a much more relaxed feel. Part your hair to one side, french braid the thicker side to the back of your head, and secure with a clear elastic, pinning the pieces into a messy chignon.
3. Top knot
This style is simple, but such a cute classic. Just gather all of your hair on top of your head and secure into a bun. Be sure it’s messy—too slick or perfect and you’ll look like you’re going to a gala.
4. Banded pony
If you’re in a hurry, throw this look together in seconds, and you’ll be ready in no time! Secure your hair into a loose ponytail in line with the tops of your ears. Take a piece from under the ponytail and wrap it around the elastic, securing it underneath with bobby pins. Lastly, add a thin headband, pushing forward slightly to add volume to the front.
5. Twist-to-bun
This “do” is casual, yet still sophisticated. Take two sections at the front and twist them back. Secure the two pieces with a clear elastic, take the rest of your hair that hasn’t been secured, and flip it over the elastic, tucking it back into itself. You won’t believe how complicated it looks!
6. “Miley” buns
Although the term was coined after Miley’s eccentric style, these double buns have been around a long while—we even wore them in pre-school! This style can be cute for festivals and concerts, and maybe even a day at the beach or beside the pool. Just plop two buns on top of your head!
