5 Summer Beauty Hacks You Need to Try ASAP

Creating beauty looks in the summer can be a bit of a complicated situation. Not only do you have to worry about protecting your skin from harsh UV rays while still looking glam, but you also have to worry about it all melting off with the heat! Luckily, there are a few hacks you absolutely need to know to keep killin’ your summer beauty looks.

1. Use products with SPF

This hack should be used year-round, but it’s especially important throughout the summer since you’ll likely be spending extra time outdoors. Stock up on products like the No. 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Day Cream SPF 15 (ULTA, $24.99), the IT’s Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF 50+ (ULTA, $38) or the EOS Active Protection Lip Balm with SPF 30 (EOS, $3.29). You’ll be protecting your skin and using great products, so it’s a win-win.

2. Cover up your inevitable sunburn

Mistakes happen; sometimes you forget to apply sunblock or use products with SPF and you end up resembling a lobster. It’s alright–we have a solution! Beauty guru, Sir John, recommends using the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Total Cover Foundation  (L’Oréal, $12.99) along with the green shade found in the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Total Cover Color Correcting Kit (L’Oréal, $16.99). Make your life a little easier by picking up one of their Blend Artist Concealer Blenders (L’Oréal, $7.99) while you’re at it to make blending it all out a breeze.

3. Set your makeup

Honestly, one of the most important things you can do in the hot summer months is set your makeup so it’s ready for all of the insane weather conditions you’re about to face. Urban Decay’s All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray (Sephora, $32)  is a fan-favorite, but you can always use Maybelline’s Master Fix Wear-Boosting Setting Spray (Target, $9.79) for a more affordable option. You can also use a few tricks of the trade to keep your makeup on all day. Sir John recommends spraying a bit of hairspray on a spoolie and running it through your eyebrows before filling in yours brows with products like the L’Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Definer (L’Oréal, $8.99). This is genius!

4. Refresh throughout the day

Even though some makeup advertises that it can last all day, it’s just hard to really find a batch of products that stand up to the test. If you find yourself needing a little bit of extra refreshing during the summer months, go for a light refreshing mist like the Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herb and Rosewater (ULTA, $7) and the NYX Blotting Papers (ULTA, $3.99). With these products in stow, you’ll be able to refresh your face without having to apply even more products.

5. Add some extra bronzed glow

Bronzed looks are basically the epitome of summer, but the risk of developing skin cancer makes it way too dangerous to achieve it naturally. Instead of laying out in the sun for hours on end, opt for a safer solutions and apply a self-tanner like the L’Oreal Paris Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Serum (L’Oreal, $10.99), You can also add a little summer glow with a powder bronzer like the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer (ULTA, $14.99). Step up your look and become a bronzed goddess with a little extra highlight, which can be achieved with the Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter & Shimmer Compact (Kohl’s, $24).

Using these simple hacks will definitely update your summer beauty routine in all of the best ways. Say goodbye to dreading walking outdoors with makeup on, and hello to a flawless face that lasts all day long!
