You know you're an English major when...

Writers are your new sex symbols.

Yes, ladies, it's famed non-fiction writer Gay Talese, my current obsession and author of such novels as Thy Neighbor's Wife, Honor Thy Father, and more. I'm doing a project on him for my Non-Fiction Novel class, and I'm hooked.

I'm currently reading Thy Neighbor's Wife and it is utterly amazing, chronicle of sexuality in American culture from the 1950s through the 1970s. If you get a chance to pick it up over Spring Break, it's a wild, informative, fabulously written ride that you just won't want to put down. Go forth and read, my lovelies!

I totally feel your English major dorkiness on this one (and I mean that in a good way!)

I am constantly falling in love with the writers I read, both for school and for fun. When I discovered Anais Nin this summer I couldn't decide if I more wanted to be her or be her lover...my current obsessions include Mary Wollstonecraft (17th century feminists, represent) and Foucault, both of whom are admittedly not as sexy as your man up there, but I've never read him so I haven't fallen in love yet. I'm sure when I do it'll happen.

Easiest way to my heart? Write a good book or some kickass theory. I should tell this to all my future dates--it would make both of our lives way easier ;)
