A Surprising/Sweet V-Day Weekend

My Valentine's Day weekend had a fiery start and a sweet ending.

My friend Morgan has recently taken up fire dancing - a risky but still very fascinating hobby. Wellesley doesn't have a fire performance group, so she's been training with a group at Olin, a nearby engineering college; and on Friday night, during one of her group practices, she auditioned to become a full-fledged member. Our friend Lily and I went along to lend her some moral support, even though that meant standing outside in a parking lot for almost an hour. Neither of us had ever seen a fire performance before, and we were blown away as we watched everyone practice their tricks. I was so amazed that I often forgot how cold I was.

The next morning, when I checked my email, I found that I had a package waiting for me at the campus center. "Hmm," I thought, "could someone have sent me a V-Day gift?" Not knowing what to expect, I trekked across campus to find my very own Her Campus T-shirt waiting for me. It looks great!

My actual Valentine's Day was very low-key, but still enjoyable. My boyfriend Alex and I went to dinner at an Italian restaurant in Boston's North End and spent a lot of time just hanging out and enjoying each other's company. We always try to keep V-Day simple but sweet, as if it were any other day we spend together.
