The Copenhagen Saga Continues: A New Apartment, The Ugly Duckling, and a Concussion

Sunday, January 31, 2010

So if anyone remembers my last post, I had a little housing issue because a gang broke into my building and stole several of the American students' computers, passports, and other valuables. I finally moved out of there and into the most amazing apartment ever, right in the center of the city! Check out my new place!

My IKEA living room

My front yard is a frozen lake.

View of my apartment from the lake - and yes, it is right above a Thai Restaurant.

I also went on a field trip with my Hans Christian Andersen class to his birthplace, named Odense in Western Denmark. The museum was wonderful and had a cute little Ugly Duckling Display, and the next day there were three swans sitting on the frozen lake in my front yard! Oh, the irony.

Me and Hans.

The real Ugly Duckling!

In a more depressing note, I was at the amazing new gym I joined (which has weekly House Djs, a steam room, amazing showers, a cafe - basically the best place ever) and I was relaxing in the steam room when tragedy struck. I was on my way back to the locker room and slipped on the wet floor and fell backwards and banged my head on the stone bench! I saw a flash of light and woke up on the floor in the fetal position (still half naked mind you) hysterically crying. I could not really walk straight and felt really dizzy and ended up going to a Danish hospital a few hours later and was diagnosed with a concussion. On the bright side, I have now experienced free health care!
