This is Why I'm Hot: 5 Fall Trends You Can Wear When the Weather is Still Steamy
After frolicking on the beach this summer, living in a bathing suit and flip-flops to beat the heat, the transition to fall wear is incredibly refreshing. Just flip through the September issues of fashion magazines to see all the new fall trends and you’ll instantly be motivated to get to the mall. But with a closet full of warm autumn clothes, the still steamy weather on campus during the first few weeks of classes makes getting dressed in the morning stressful. Instead of throwing on your jean shorts and flip flops to walk around campus, check out ways to adjust those fall trends before the mercury drops.
Summer Blazers
Blazers are back in a big way for fall, and while a boyfriend blazer looks great with skinny jeans and flats, the long sleeves can be a little too warm during the first few weeks back on campus. Instead, try out a short-sleeved blazer. Pair it with dark skinny jeans, a tank top, and your favorite flat sandals for a breezy fall look that lets you stay cool in the heat.
Blazer: $38, Mandee
Tank Top: $38, Madewell
Jeans: $155, 7 for all Mankind
Sandals: $70, Steve Madden
Bag: $499, Kooba
Bangle: $54, Tobi

Army Looks
Military-inspired looks take your wardrobe up a notch, and while your favorite army-green jacket will be stylish with leggings or jeans once fall weather moves in, for now pair it with shorts. You can roll up the sleeves of your military jacket, wear a nude tank underneath, and cinch a black belt around your waist. Break out your black gladiators from summer to complete the look.
Jacket: $152, Oak NYC
Shorts: $135, Jess Gold
Tank Top: $94, James Perse
Sandals: $62, Lovely People
Bracelet: $35, Jessica Simpson
Belt: $71, Cole Haan

Western Footwear
One of the biggest footwear trends this fall is ankle boots in all styles, whether they’re sky-high heeled booties or a western-inspired boot. While the weather’s still hot, put away the pants or tights and pair your ankle boots with a cute floral dress. You’ll stay cool but still look trendy on campus.
Boots: $113, Luxury Rebel
Dress: $64, Top Shop
Bag: $850, Alexander Wang
Necklace: $5.80, Forever 21

Trendy Rompers
The fashion world has just gotten used to the romper, but already, the full onesie is all over the runway. If you don’t think you’re ready to strut through the classroom in the full body suit, stick to your romper on campus. Instead of pairing it with gladiator sandals, shed the summer look and pair it with a menswear-inspired oxford shoe. Jazz it up with some jewelry and you’re ready to hit the quad.
Romper: $150, Seneca Rising
Shoes: $181, Joan & David Collection
Bag: $478, Marc by Marc Jacobs
Bracelet: $15, Mod Cloth

Lacey Dresses
Lace is a huge trend for fall, and there’s already tons of cute lace dresses on display in stores all over the mall. In September, ditch your cardigan and tights and instead pair your lace dress with bare sun-kissed legs. Add a pair of basic black flats and a watch or bracelet for a pop of color, and you’re ready for a stylish appearance on campus.
Dress: $34, Forever 21
Flats: $99, Corso Como
Bag: $100, Top Shop
Watch: $115, BCBGMAXAZRIA

Looking chic on campus without being sweaty the first few weeks of class can be difficult, but pairing your new fall staples with classic summer essentials makes it a cinch. Take our outfit advice for a flawless and stylish first impression during the first weeks of class.
