This fall, luxe is in, and that means furs, leathers, and metallics — but more often than not, these rich fabrics make us look overdone and even gaudy (yikes!). As we transition from summer to winter, we want to look our best, so here are five ways to wear some of this fall’s most luxurious fabrics, without looking like you’re playing dress-up!
Fur
What’s luxury without fur? Try a multi-colored, hip-length faux fur coat without a lot of fluff, which can make fur look more excessive than it already is. Though we love getting dressed up, being that girl on campus is not always the best idea — but wearing too flat of a fur can make the coat look cheap. Find a balance with leopard and mink furs — the patterned, dark and textured prints are less poufy than other furs but definitely don’t lack body, and their numerous shades of browns and blacks easily complement any wardrobe.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley combines luxe attire (leather and fur!) and makes it work by keeping the colors basic with black and brown. Fur itself commands attention, so no need to dress it up even more!
