Retail Therapy at its Best: YOUphoria

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

Summer is my favorite season by a long shot. I can’t get enough of the sunshine, the heat, long weekends at the beach, flip-flops, and sundresses. I love nothing more than donning big movie star sunglasses, a cute cotton dress and a pair of wedges at the beginning of a long summer day. I always get a little bit melancholy around this time of the year. The sun starts setting a little bit earlier each evening, the leaves start falling from the trees, and there’s a certain chill in the air that means my sundresses and wedges are not long for this world (well, at least until next June). Like any smart collegiette, however, I know the one cure for the end-of-summer blues: retail therapy!

A few weeks ago I was thrilled to find out that I had been selected for Nordstrom’s YOUPhoria Fashion Faceoff. Nordstrom contacted their favorite blogs/websites (whoop whoop Her Campus!) and asked us to participate in the competition. As a participant, I basically got to have the best day, well, ever. On Monday, August 26th, I got picked up at my apartment by a black town car and driven to the Nordstrom at Southshore plaza near Boston. Upon arrival, I was met with a green tea smoothie by Liz Ferrisi, my personal stylist for the day, and given an $850 Nordstrom giftcard. I was tasked with the “challenge” of spending the $850 (um… ok!) on a very me, very HC fall outfit.

We started with makeup at Bobbi Brown so that I could look perfectly glamorous while shopping.

I went back to a private fitting room where Liz had laid out some of her favorite items as suggestions for places to start our shopping adventure. I immediately gravitated towards an incredible leather jacket from Marc New York by Andrew Mark ($398). I’ve always had a hard time finding a leather jacket that wasn’t too macho or edgy for me. I’m obsessed with the color and the fit of the jacket and decided that it was the perfect piece to build my outfit around.

Finding the leather jacket really started getting me excited about wearing jeans again and I loved the way that a dark denim played off of the Amber/Brown colors of the jacket. I paired a pair of Sloan Deconstructed Skinny Jeans by Edyson ($78) with a beautiful white silk blouse from Trouve ($74).

Our next challenge: finding the perfect shoes. I’m a Tory Burch girl through and through and was thrilled by the prospect of scoring some new Tory Burch flats! First I tried on these hilarious driving slippers.

Deciding that they were a bit, um, much, I next tried on something a bit more neutral.

I loved the fit of the Caroline 2 Flat but wanted more of a pop of color to play off of the relatively neutral outfit I had built so far. I found the Caroline 2 Flats in red and I was obsessed!

The next step was to accessorize and finalize my look. I tried on several scarves before finding the perfect blend of colors and patterns to tie everything together (Front Row Society’s Coral Melody Scarf – $38).

For a final touch I found the Titanium (brand, not material) 37mm Boyfriend Watch for only $22.

I finished off my outfit with KW’s Nicole Oversized Frame Sunglasses ($12).

And here it is: the complete look!

Here’s where you come in! I’m competing with another Boston blogger for the best YOUphoric outfit (vote here: https://boston.youphoriafashion.com/). In addition, Nordstrom will be hosting a party on September 12th at the Southshore plaza and you’re invited! Get on the guest list here: https://boston.youphoriafashion.com/

YOUphoria: It’s more attainable than you think. Find yours at Nordstrom.
