Despite being a gorgeous and successful plus-size model in the fashion industry, Hunter McGrady had those same issues. While she was no stranger to swimsuit photoshoots, Hunter never could find the perfect swimwear for her body type in average malls and department stores. “I’ve never been able to walk in somewhere and absolutely love every single piece,” McGrady tells Glamour.
Thankfully, Hunter decided it was time for a change and has released her own line of plus-sized swimwear in collaboration with U.K. fashion brand, Playful Promises. Hunter’s collection includes 10 stunning pieces, with tons of different designs including two-piece bikinis and one-piece plus-size swimsuits.
Plus women are often restricted to the stretchy one-piece suit that just hugs all their curves in, while the more revealing and smartly-designed pieces are reserved for smaller sizes. Hunter’s Playful Promises line looks to diversify the options and make cute swimwear accessible to all women. “I feel like that’s such a big misconception: that because we have a bigger, curvier body, we should be covered up,” Hunter explains. “I wanted to be sexy and I wanted to feel like I could go out and wear what my size 2, 4, 6, 8 girlfriends were wearing.”
Hunter herself has always wanted cuter swimwear, with all the frills and designs exclusive to smaller swimsuits in the past. She’s delivered such pieces in this line, like a richly red colored wrap-around bikini top with matching bottoms, as well as mesh pieces that show off curves while providing a gorgeous silhouette.
