Go Crazy: Fall's Wackiest Runway Trends & How to Wear Them

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Whether we’re walking through campus or hitting the bars on the weekends, as collegiettes™ we love making a statement. Between the fall fashion mags on newsstands and fashion weeks all over the world this month, we’re presented with new ways to stand out — but how do we rock runway looks without looking like we’re wearing a frat party costume gone wrong? Here are five of the wackiest trends this fall and how to wear them!

Sporty Neon
If finding cute gym outfits wasn’t already hard enough, the fashion world is now all about sporty attire all day every day. Alexander Wang’s line features mesh jackets, rompers and the like layered over neon-colored tops and other clothing you’re more likely to see in an aerobics class than on the streets.

Though we all have those days where we put on gym clothes because we don’t feel like getting dressed up (hey, it doesn’t hurt to have everybody think you’ve been working out, even when you haven’t!), that doesn’t mean we’ll be wearing mesh rompers over our highlighter pink leotards just because high fashion says so. Instead, try a mesh tank layered over a colored bandeau and put the look together with black leggings and a pair of jelly flats; you’ll look sporty chic without the gym shoes and sports bra!

"As much as we love our business casual, let’s be real — we’ll never look as good in a pantsuit as Hillary does."

LOVE.
