The 7 Perks of Being a Fashion Editor

Having grown up with glossy pages and The Devil Wears Prada, many of us have big dreams of becoming fashion editors. Sure, Andy’s tumultuous path to the top was filled with long hours, a (very) demanding boss and many unglamorous moments, but the job certainly has some undeniable perks. Here’s a peek into that exclusive world:

1. You get a first look at EVERY top designer’s collections

Not only are you getting covetable front-row invites to every fashion show, you also get the opportunity to make one-on-one appointments with designers throughout the year to get a glimpse at what’s new not this season… but next. That’s a whole new level of chic.

2. You get to travel to the fashion capitals of the world

Paris? Don’t mind if we do. If Karl Lagerfeld somehow forgot to invite you to the Chanel show, though, don’t worry, we are sending you an invite to College Fashion Week this October! We’ll be making stops in some of the hottest cities in America: Boston, New York City, Washington, DC and Atlanta!

3. Two words: Free. Stuff.

Psst—here’s the secret to every well-dressed fashion editor. There’s no shortage of designer bags (many of which designers might even name after you), racks filled with clothes… you get the idea. You’ll enjoy the same perks at College Fashion Week; the first 500 attendees in each city will score goodie bags with free stuff from Simon Malls, Luna, Skinny Pop, Shake Shack and so much more!

4. You’ll have the most enviable Instagram feed

Hundreds of likes per photo? Standard. Every fashion editor’s Instagram feed is FULL of backstage beauty snaps, videos straight from the runway, an inside look at what it’s really like to work at a magazine… is that real life?!

5. You get to rub shoulders with some of the fashion elite

If you’re a top fashion editor, you sit front row with Anna Wintour. If you’re Anna Wintour, you sit front row with the entire Beckham family. We don’t see a way to lose.

6. You have your own glam squad

From fashion week after parties to events throughout the year, fashion editors make appearances at tons of high end parties—which means that obviously, looking good is a must. With access to free blowouts and makeovers from top makeup artists, it’s practically as if fashion editors have their own glam team. And don’t worry, collegiettes—we’re setting you up with Cara Delevingne-level brows at the European Wax Center‘s Browfection Bar at College Fashion Week!

7. You get to see your name in print

Okay, so you might not have a life-size photo of yourself plastered to the side of a bus, but seeing your very own byline—or better yet, your name on a magazine’s masthead—is a dream come true for any aspiring writer.

Are you ready to enjoy the perks every fashion editor loves? Register now to join us at College Fashion Week in Boston, New York City, DC or Atlanta to get exclusive access to this season’s hottest trends, a not-to-be-missed show, tons of free stuff and so much more!
