5 Ways to Wear the Pom-Pom Trend This Summer

Posted -

When it comes to the trends of summer 2017, there’s nothing more festive and fun than the cute, colorful pom poms that seem to be everywhere right now – but trying to get the look without going overboard and looking too ~decked out~ can be a struggle. The trick? Sticking with one tasseled piece per look, and letting it be the statement-maker in your outfit. Read on for five ways to get the look, without looking like a first-grader’s craft project.

1. Off-the-shoulder blouse

Nail two summer trends in one by rocking an off-the-shoulder blouse with fun pom pom accents. Paired with casual jean shorts, sandals and a summer-ready woven tote, it will easily become your go-to warm weather outfit.

2. Bold basket bag

Summer’s most effortless accessory is the basket bag – and it only becomes more festive and fun with tassels added into the mix. Pick a bag on the smaller side to use on the daily, or try a larger tote to store your essentials for when you’re headed out for a day at the beach.

3. Statement swimsuit

Pom pom accents tend to be on the bolder side  – so if you’re feeling a little color-shy, the beach or pool is a great place to test-drive the trend as a swimsuit before you add it to your #OOTD. A plunging one-piece is sexy, but the teeny pom pom details keep things fun.

4. Pom pants

Black pants can easily be given an on-trend boho edge via some cute tassels around the hem – and they’re still totally wearable for your business-casual summer internship. Dress up the look with a sleek button down and heels for work, or with a crop top and espadrilles on the weekends.

5. Sassy sandals

Is there any better way to draw attention to your pretty pedicure than with pom pom sandals? We love the lace-up look with a few colorful pom pom accents – try a heel if you want to add height, or keep things flat and comfy. They make an amazing statement piece to pair with an all-white outfit and look fun and flirty paired with a cute mini skirt.

While the pom pom trend can be intimidating at first (hello color and bold details, am I right?), it’s easy to wear when you pick one statement piece with cute and colorful tassels and let it shine. Basically, you’ve just found your go-to effortless summer uniform – you’re welcome.
