3 Female Musicians That Can Help You Relax During Stressful Times

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at York U chapter.

I know I am not the only one worried by the strike, and as it’s technically almost the end of the winter semester, it’s a particularly stressful time to be a student. So, in honour of International Women’s Day, I want to give you three influential female artists whose music brings peace and relaxation.

Jhené Aiko

I have always seen Jhené as a very spiritual artist. Her music always has meaning and she adds sounds to her songs that make you just want to listen to her on a rainy day. She’s definitely someone who always brings peace with her music.

Recommended Song: “While We’re Young”

H.E.R.

H.E.R. is an artist that has a smooth, unique flow to her music, and I love artists who have their own unique style. If you’re looking for music that you can listen to on a lazy day, H.E.R. is a good option! H.E.R. gives me a chill vibe so her music would be a good soundtrack to driving around with your friends or just for staying in.

Recommended Song: “Every Kind of Way”

SZA

SZA is getting more popular by the day. She made her mark by releasing her debut album last June, and her music is becoming very influential. Listening to SZA’s music is therapeutic for me because of how her songs can just bring out your emotions. SZA’s music can help you relieve the stress by just letting go of everything that has been bothering you.

Recommended Song: “Supermodel”

Women should be celebrated every day, especially female artists. The music of these three artists brought so much peace to my life that I handle things better than I have before I discovered them. I hope that music brings you peace during stressful times like the current York strike. Remember to always do something that relaxes you!
