By now, everyone has seen the protests about ending the DACA: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. The Trump administration is looking to deport about 800,000 people who were brought here as children by loving parents. Parents who hoped that their children would have better lives and more opportunities than would be afforded in their respective countries.
As could be expected, there are people who side with the Trump administration. And then, there are those who stand by the DREAMers. Defending them, protesting with/for them, and just being there for them.
Many of the Dreamers are now young adults who’ve gone through the education system, have gotten jobs, have paid taxes and served in the military. America is their home – they know no other land besides this one. Why send these citizens back to a country they have never known? They are the very fabric that holds this nation together. They ARE Americans.
I stand by the DREAMers, along with many celebrities and talk show hosts, such as Trevor Noah and Jared Leto, who speak out against ending the DACA.
You are not alone here and will always have a place in America.
