A Farewell Address: from the Her Campus YCP President

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at YCP chapter.

When I think of my first memory here at YCP, I think of that girl who watched her boyfriend fade away in the back of her sister’s car. A girl who only went “far away” to say that she went far away. A girl who did not care about creating a home away from home.

Now four years later, I’m a young woman whose dreams are as big as my smile. I feel like no one will truly understand how difficult, how tiring and how humorous this journey has been here at York.

I am truly grateful for all the people that I have gotten to meet and be with during these four years. Every single one of you, no matter the relationship, have pushed me into a great form of myself. My strength, my courage, my resiliency, and my sass comes from you. I am so thankful for the ones who let me be myself and let me run my mouth even though they did not expect what would come from it.

Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. Thank you for the laughs, the tears, the late nights in the writing center, the Rutters orders, the Sin, the chicky tend memes, the Snapchat responses, and of course the appreciation of the Tinder screenshots.

Thank you for getting me ready for the real and incredibly big world.
