Remember in high school when you had to wait two years before you could go to your school’s prom? Before you got to dress even more formal than for homecoming? Before you got asked with a “promposal”? Most teenage girls can’t wait to go to the prom. Now that we’re in college, we don’t really get a prom to prepare for. Here are some things we collegiettes miss about prom night.

Promposals

Whether it’s getting asked or watching someone get asked, we were (and always will be) suckers for promposals. Sometimes they’re cute and sometimes they’re a disaster! But all-in-all, they’re still unforgettable!

Picking Out the Dress

Dress shopping was always more fun with friends. “Does this dress make me look fat?” “Does this color look good on me?” “I like the open back, but not the beading.” Don’t forget those many mirror pics you took!

Getting Ready

Have you ever had a party in the bathroom while getting ready for prom? If you have, then you know it was probably the best part. Together with friends, it was like having your very own salon in your house. While you were getting your hair and makeup done by one friend, you were probably helping another friend with the same things at the same time, yikes!

Fancy Dinners

Going out to a fancy-ish restaurant was quite fun. But also having dinner at the prom was fine too because it meant probably not having to pay as much. In college we don’t have to worry about spilling anything on our $150-$200 dress, nor do we have to worry about possibly having to wonder if we have enough to pay for dinner.

Taking Pictures

Remember that awkward moment when you were probably not dating your date and your parents finally met them? Same. There were the many questions of “Do you like him?” and “How do you know him?” Don’t forget the moment they were taking your picture and saying all these embarrassing things like, “Aww this is a cute picture!”, “Get closer!” or “Don’t be shy, put your arms around each other!”

Dancing

No one can forget the songs blaring through the speakers, or the crowded dance floor. What about that one person who decided to show off and everyone crowded around to see and cheer them on? Also, don’t forget the many couples slow dancing and um… grinding.

The Chaperoning Teachers

Every prom probably had the teachers chaperoning. But we won’t forget the times they may or may not have busted out some embarrassing dance moves on the dance floor.

Voting King and Queen

Every girl hoped to be crowned prom queen. But even if it wasn’t us, we were still be happy for the queen and her king, no matter who they are.

What Others Are Wearing

Did you ever think that you were wearing a one-of-kind dress? Many of us did. None of us could ever forget going to prom believing we were the only ones wearing our dress and then seeing at least two other girls wearing our exact same dress and in the exact same color! But seeing every other’s unique dress is also pretty neat too.

The After Party

I don’t know about you, but a lot of people miss the prom’s after party the most. It’s probably because at the after party, you got to dress in comfortable clothing and just hang out with friends. Plus, there were fun games and food as well.
