Some of the Best Things About West Virginia Wesleyan in the Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVWC chapter.

There’s a lot to love about West Virginia Wesleyan College during every season, but these are just a few of the things that students look forward to when spring finally rolls around. Amidst the chaos and struggle of spring semester, these are some of the things that keep us going!

Walking on the River Walk

The River Walk is a paved trail that is used for walking, biking, running, etc. There are short walks you can do or long walks, the path is right along the river and has tons of nature to see along the way. There are tons of different plant life if that’s something you’re interested in, but there are also almost always ducks and geese if you look on the river! As an added bonus, if you’re on the river walk anytime it’s warm, you’re guaranteed to see at least one dog.

Trips to Dairy King

Yes, you read that right – Dairy King. Dairy King is a local ice cream place just about a mile from campus. Not only is there ice cream, but also food items so you can have dinner and dessert all in one place. The food and ice cream is great, but the service is even better! If it’s a hot day, you can find many college students hanging out here waiting for a razzle!

Spring Sing

Once a year, organizations compete against one another to become the spring sing champion. The theme is voted on by the students early in the year, and the organizations design their performance to fit the theme. The performance is not only singing, but also choreography and some acting. One of the best things about spring sing is that all the singing is live. If you’re a student or just happen to be around campus the weekend of spring sing I highly recommend coming to watch!

The Campus

Wesleyan’s campus is incredibly beautiful during all the seasons, but seeing all the flora around campus in bloom is something to look forward to. There are so many benches and great places to relax outside and enjoy the campus in the sun. Besides plant life, spring time means that it’s time for the fountain to be up and running again. The fountain is a staple on Wesleyan’s campus that adds another element to the beautiful scenery.

Having Class Outside

I’ve been a student at Wesleyan for three years now and at least a few times every spring I have had a class outside. Nothing is better than getting to class on a beautiful day, and hearing your professor say “let’s have class outside.” Not only is it great to get out of the routine of sitting in a classroom, but getting to spend time outside and still go to class is a win-win situation. Sitting outside may make it a little more difficult to take notes, but on the bright side you’ll get some extra time to soak up the sun!

Just a small town girl living in an even smaller college town. I'm an Accounting major at WVWC in hopes of someday going to law school. I enjoy coffee, jumping in puddles, & petting the locals' dogs when they take them for walks on campus.
