Five Things to Love About the New Beauty and the Beast Movie

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVWC chapter.

I was skeptical at first. I had loved the story of Beauty and the Beast, the original and the Disney Movie. Remakes aren’t always a good idea, that’s for sure, but at the same time I knew I had to see it! So, I watched it twice! There were multiple things I appreciated about the movie, and I was more than satisfied with it! Here are five things to love about the new Beauty and the Beast movie!

1.The Story Line

As an avid fan of all things Beauty and the Beast, I know a few things about the origins of the story. It is awesome that the writers would pay homage to the original story of La Belle and La Bete. This is shown when Belle’s father steals the rose, as compared to the Disney original which portrays differently that Maurice was unwelcome in the beginning and was taken away when discovered in the Beast’s castle. As well as this awesome homage, there is also the add-ins to the characters back stories. For instance, Gaston and Le Fou being in the army, or Belle and Maurice’s mother and wife dying from the bubonic plague. And the Beasts back story was just heart-wrenching, but very affirming!

2.The Characters (Actors and Actresses)

There were so many actors and actresses I never expected to see in the movie, and I was pleasantly surprised! The main four that really brought the movie together were Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans and Josh Gad. They played their roles very well, and I for one, enjoyed it. Others include Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, and Stanley Tucci!

3.The Set

Let’s just take a moment.

The Castle, the rooms, the little provincial town? The set was gorgeous! So gorgeous, you could just stare at it all day. Just soak in all the beauty of this set, there is plenty of it!

4.The Clothing

The costumes are amazing and completely Hot Topic worthy. The makeup that Dan Steven’s wears in the beginning is very eye catching and will immediately draw you in, and from there, the costumes get better! The clothing is unique, even the Beast has some snazzy threads!

5.The Songs

I sing constantly, to everything really, and on the top of my playlists are definitely Disney Songs.

The Songs are pretty much my favorite! I constantly sing along to the original Disney songs, but seeing the songs performed in the live action? Heart-warming and magnificent! The songs come to life!

The only way you can truly experience this great movie is to watch it. Yeah, go on! Watch it as many times as you like! There are many against the movie or the ones picked for iconic roles, but at the same time, there are those that absolutely love everything about it! I say that it may have its faults, but in the end, there is no denying that there is a lot of good characteristics! It is a must see!
