Corinne Weaver 15′ – EIC of Her Campus WVWC

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVWC chapter.

The HC WVWC team is back to introduce another member of our team! This week we’re highlighting our second Editor-in-Chief, Corinne Weaver. She and Kaila works as Co-Presidents to help the team create content and stay on top of deadlines, as well as communicate with Her Campus Nationals!

Corinne is a senior Public Relations major from Oakland, Maryland.

This is her second year working with Her Campus. She was the first Social Media Chair for the WVWC chapter before she started as EIC in Spring of last year.

“When I joined the team, our chapter had only existed for one year and Her Campus was a generally new national organization,” said Weaver. “Our small team had a great time finding ways to spark interest around campus, and I loved getting to interact with all our collegiette friends over social media.”

Aside from her work with all things HC, she helps with PR in the Office of Greek Life and recently returned to her Alpha Delta Pi sisters after being dissafilated as a recruitment counselor for sorority recruitment. She also studies musical theatre and will appear as Marilla in this spring’s production of Anne Of Green Gables with the WVWC Theatre and Dance Department. Though she loves her Home Among the Hills, she is finishing her degree in 3 years and plans to jump straight into the communication and marketing field, in the hopes of returning to grad school after a couple years of hands-on study.

This summer, Corinne worked as a media relations intern at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland. She says the opportunity gave her irreplaceable experience and has helped shape her future career goals as a PR practitioner.

“I still use Her Campus as one of my main work and/or internship experiences, and listed it when I applied for my summer term at the Aquarium,” said Weaver. “Her Campus can encompass so many things (ie. teamwork, communication, writing skills, etc.) it can be a major resume builder, not to mention – it’s fun!”

As she and Kaila come closer to the end of their term as EIC, Corinne said they’ll miss working to bring news and features to the college women of Buckhannon.

“Her Campus has not only changed my professional goals, it has enriched my college years. In our position as EIC, Kaila and I have had an opportunity to really connect to the Welseyan community. It is amazing to see students and staff react so positively to our writer’s work, and we love to see deserving people highlighted for what makes them a unique and important part of our campus family. I can’t wait to see how HC WVWC will continue to grow.”
