Addie Lewis ’17

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVWC chapter.

Addie Lewis is a freshman from Saint Marys, West Virginia. She is a Public Relations major at WVWC with a minor in English. Addie is a part of the WVWC Dance Team, a member of the 4-H club and the Communications Department. She is also involved in dance scholarship activities. Recently, Addie took a trip to Washington D.C. to participate in a Leveraging Communication, Social Media & Technology for Policymaking Seminar through The Public Leadership Education Network (PLEN).

“PLEN was such a great opportunity for me,” said Lewis. “The seminar provided so much insight in the communications and public relations field.”

According to Lewis, many panels were offered from women in various fields across DC. Lewis also was able to participate in resume building, LinkedIn, and salary negotiation workshops. She had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world.

“Throughout this seminar I learned that social media is becoming more and more important in the world of politics. I encourage anyone to go to PLEN, if they are given the chance,” said Lewis.

Addie was one of four student chosen to represent West Virginia Wesleyan at the seminar and plans to share her knowledge with students on campus in the upcoming semester. If you see Addie on campus, and she’s not dancing around, trying to get to class, ask her about her PLEN experience and see what knowledge she can share with you.
