Seven Reasons Why I’m Falling for Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

The days get shorter and the nights get longer. The humid days slowly turn into breezy crisp afternoons. Sandals turn into boots, shorts turn into leggings and all is well with the world. Fall is back, y’all and this is why it’s the most wonderful time of the year.

1. Layers on layers on layers!

This is for all you ladies out there. Utilize your wardrobe and layer it up. Whether you’re wearing leggings, boots, a cardigan and a scarf, or a sweater, scarf and jeans, it’s always nice to wear a lot of clothes and not be a puddle of sweat. Cooler weather means sweater weather.

2. Two words: Pumpkin spice.

Whether you love it or hate it, you can’t deny that it’s exciting to see the pumpkin spice advertisements. You know Fall is coming. But for those who do like it, you’re not alone. You are not basic, either. Pumpkin spice is a reminder that it’s basically the most wonderful time of the year. Especially lattes. Always the lattes.

3. Weekends are for football.

Thursday night football occasionally, Friday night-lights, Saturday college football and Sunday NFL are basically how weekends are structured during the fall seasons. From cheering for your alma mater, your college team and your hometown professional team, you have all weekend to attend or cozy up next to a TV and some nachos. What is pass interference, anyways?

4. Halloweentown. Enough said.

The best movie in existence.

But really though, you are lying if you say you didn’t wish Halloweentown was real. The Disney Channel Original Movie focuses on Marnie and her younger siblings as they slip away with their grandmother to the infamous, secret place, Halloweentown. Then same Kalabar’s Revenge then came Halloweentown High. You get brownie points if you’ve seen them all. Nonetheless, we all wish we were friends with Marnie so we could visit Halloweentown too.

5. Wearing the costumes you’ve been planning out for months.

Halloween is not only the best holiday, but one of the biggest reasons for college campuses to throw celebrations every night of the week leading up to it. If you’re like me, you’ve also been planning out your Halloween costumes since May. Finally, this fall you get to wear your sexy police officer mini dress or be Harambe in a gorilla suit. Whether suites you, it will be a treat.

6. Crisp evenings perfect for snuggling.

We can’t avoid the fact that cuffing season is here, guys. Even if you decide to be single for a while, snuggling never hurt anybody. Find a friend, or find your boyfriend and sit close to the fire. The nights will get colder and so will your couch and bed. Hold someone close and keep warm!

7. Togetherness.

I’m not sure if it is because of the colder weather or the weekly celebrations, but Fall brings a sense of togetherness. With the end of the year approaching, many holidays fall during the autumn months. Homecoming is usually within October, bringing back alum to celebrate their old home with new students. Halloween is obviously a great excuse to dress up and make memories. Thanksgiving brings families together, unofficially marking the start of the holiday season, which leads to even more festivities.

Fall brings people together in more ways than one, so what is there not to be happy about? Let’s fall for Fall.
