How to do a Lazy Weekend the Right Way

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

Being in a college town comes with a lot of stress to go out every weekend. The weekend in college starts on Thursdays and doesn’t end until Sunday. Its exhausting trying to keep up with the party culture in a college town. What if there was a way to have a great weekend in without having FOMO? If you do a lazy weekend right, FOMO is non-existent. Once you hit that wall where you physically and mentally can not go out anymore, it’s time to do a lazy weekend, and here’s how to do it right!

1. Grab your girlfriends for some company!

Nothing is better than a girls night in! Call your girlfriends and have a nice relaxing night in!

2. The essentials (Wine, Pizza, and Ice Cream)

Use your lazy weekend to take full advantage of a cheat meal! No movie night is complete without some sweet treats!

3. Chick Flicks

This one needs no explanation, how can you envy people at the club when you are hanging out with Ryan Gosling in your own apartment?

4. Beauty remedies

Try to whip up some homemade face masks or scrubs! They can be fun to make and even more relaxing to use!

5. Cuddle up with a good book

Not a lot of people find reading relaxing anymore, but I promise if you find the right book it can be the best escape ever! Try an online book quiz to see what book fits you best and curl up with some hot tea and dive in!

6. Try some new recipes

New recipes are a fun little adventure to try when you are bored, also you get a meal out of it. Try looking on Facebook and Instagram for some fast easy recipes.

7. Get organized

Use this free time to clean your house/apartment. Having a clean space will prepare you for the week and pass the time!

8. Homework

Although we like to ignore it, Monday always comes around. Use your weekend to get ahead on homework so your work week is less stressful!

Hi ladies and gents, my name is Mel, Melanie if you're feelin' fancy. I'm a senior studying advertising, political science and fashion at West Virginia University. In addition to my studies, I am the Campus Correspondent for the WVU HC Chapter! You can hear me on the radio at U92 FM reporting the news and hosting morning shows. If I'm not there, I'm most likely at the local Panera eating my body weight in broccoli cheddar soup or writing about the daily, awkward encounters I experience. I represenative of the college of media as an ambassador and the prez of the magazine club. Oversized sweatshirts and jean on jean are my aesthetics. Lover, not a fighter unless you tell me Joe Jonas wasn't the best Jonas. Laters, baby.
