I come from an Army family so we have moved around a lot throughout my life. I grew up mostly in Maryland where I call home and where I also attended Atholton High School. I got a full ride to West Virginia University from Army ROTC, but I came here because when I visited, I knew it was where I was meant to be instead of Virginia Tech or VMI. Some things I enjoy in my spare time are hunting and four wheeling in the woods behind my house.
Q: What made you want to run for Homecoming King or Queen?
I am running for Homecoming King because I believe that I would represent the title well based off of the values that I live by. I live by the Army ethos and values, as well as the values of Sigma Nu Fraternity which are Love Truth and Honor. I am also running because I enjoy a challenge and I am constantly looking for ways to improve myself.
Q: Why do you think you would be a good King or Queen and why do you deserve this title?
At WVU I am involved in several student orgs. I am in Army ROTC, and I commission in December as a Distinguished Military Graduate, or top 20% in the nation, and I will be an Active Duty 2nd Lieutenant in the Army. With ROTC I was president of Scabbard and Blade, which is a national military honor society. I am also the president of Sigma Nu Fraternity, which I credit a lot of my success and leadership development to, including Outstanding Greek Man of the Year last semester.
Q: What would it mean to you if you were named the 2015 Homecoming King or Queen?
If I was named Homecoming King, to me it would mean that I took on a challenge and succeeded. It’s not about recognition from other people to me.
Q: What are your connections to the state of West Virginia?
I moved to South Charleston, West Virginia the day I graduated high school. From that day on, I’ve considered myself a West Virginian.
Q: If you had one message for the students of WVU, what would that message be?
If I had one message for WVU students it would be to enjoy your time here at WVU but to work hard to accomplish something that will make you proud.
